Is my cold water pressure too high?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

We have just had our outside cold (blue pipe just outside back door that comes into the kitchen) water toby/valve replaced as it was leaking. I filled the bath and when I turned off the taps there is a low humming noise from the bath (?pipes). I think this is air in pipe or high water pressure. ?The chap has opened the valve too much. It only lasts a minute or two then stops. The taps don't leak. Should I turn the outside valve to reduce the pressure and if so how much should I turn it and in which direction. Or if it is air, should I just leave alone and wait for the ?air to clear? Also I can see the blue valve tap but the pipe is under some water. Is that normal? Many Thanks, Alan

Water pressure is too high . Turn clockwise to reduce . The water by the valve outside could of been from when the repair was done , so monitor it and if it doesn’t drain away , the stop cock must be faulty or needs tightening up .

It needs to fit a pressure reducer on your main water pipe after the main water stopcock

Turn the Stop tap clockwise to reduce the amount of water coming through to the Appliances or fit a pressure reducer.
