Is there a way to remove or disguise jet washer marks from indian sandstone?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

I made an error and used a jet washer directly on my new light grey indian sandstone patio to remove some marks and give it a general clean, and now I have left what look like permanent dark jet washer marks. Its not where dirt has been removed, I believe I have actually marked the stone. Will these fade in time? Is there a way to remove them now? And if not is would these marks be covered by a sealant or would they make them even more visible? If anyone can help please let me know. Many thanks.

It could be just colour difference because you just washed it, but colour can also fade or come of if you jet too close, keep some gap. And gradually go closer if required.

This is caused by not applying equal pressure with the washer, hence some areas come up cleaner than others, you could wash it down again and keep the pressure washer the same distance from the surface whilst washing, that should solve the problem.

How close did you go with the Lance? It almost sounds as if you've de- laminated the stone.

Sand stone is reasonably soft. A pressure washer can eat away the surface of the stone. This just means its uncovered fresh rock. I don't know if there is a way to make them disappear now but they should fade in time

There will probably be wash lines on the paving you would probably better getting a professional company in to wash the paving stones with s proper washing machine. If you leave the paving there will be markes .

Sounds like you've just cleaned some areas more than others, so really just clean them all the same. Next time either don't or use the washer on a lower setting and wider spray so its not so intense on small areas

Although it is not recommended to use a jet washer on full power it should still not have effected the stone in any way although the stone is said to be soft it hardens over time as its natural moisture is removed If you are seeing marks it could just be you have highlighted a mark by cleaning If you have done some permanent damage this can be removed using an ossilating sander with fine grit.without actually seeing the stone and the extent off the damage it is hard to recommend a solution
