Mortar mix for 1950s red brick house

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.22 PM

Hello What mortar mix would you recommend for a 1950s red brick house? I will be taking out all the old mortar and starting completely fresh. Thank you

I would personally use a mixed ratio at 6.1.1 6 sand 1 white cement 1 lime. That’s on the assumption it’s got white existing mortar. If it’s grey cement it would just be a 5.1 ratio.

depends really on if it is a solid brick building or cavity wall, whether its a weak cement mix or a lime mortar mix

Sand, Cement (white) & Lime 5-1-1 would be good for a job like this
