No Response to communication

I have hired and confirmed a tradesman to complete my new decking, however, I have had no response to text messages, voicemails or messages. They are due to start the work this Fri, 23rd April. Am I tied to a contract seeing as we verbally agreed everything?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Just find somebody else to complete the work I would if not hearing anything

Text them once more with a time frame to contact you, if no response then go ahead and contact another tradesman to complete your work as you have given them the chance to reply to your message. Also tell them what your plans are if they don’t contact you

You should have got a written or email quotation or hourly price and if he’s not responding to your queries then I think you must ask yourself if this guy is serious 🧐 and check his reviews .

Leave a voicemail/text explaining the circumstances, that you have waited and due to lack of concern, will be looking for someone else to complete the work. Give them a set date to return the call before you initiate finding someone else. Therefore you can always prove they had adequate response time. And that you acted reasonable with best efforts for them to facilitate the work.
