New oven touching Gas hob pipe

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.38 PM

I have just had a new oven delivered and it is touching the gas hob pipe, the isolation valve to be precise. I had to removed the black plastic handle from the isolation valve to get the oven to sit in neatly but I am wondering if this will cause any issues when in use. It is a pyrolytic oven that has a fused 13amp plug fitted as standard. The pupe fittings are compression and not soldered where the oven touches

The Hob pipe will have to be moved as you should never put a gas compression fitting under stress. You should never remove any part of the isolation valve either

Absolutely get that moved asap, I have seen = gas leaks in the past from compressions being put under slight pressure never mind from an oven which gets hot aswell into the bargain, It isn't a big job if its only slightly brushing, if its literally *just* brushing it could even get away with a slightly less chunky isolation valve in the same spot can get pretty slimline ones in some places

The pipe will require to be moved as the fittings will be under stress. I would also check the isolation valve as it should have a yellow handle.
