Boiler priv overflow pipe constantly has water coming out of it

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.38 PM

Hi Heating engineers My ideal independent c30 is constantly throwing out water from the priv pipe. I've also seen at times the boiler pressure hitting 2bar when it's a slow drip. Other times it's as much as 3bar and the water is coming out very fast. Sure enough within a few days the pressure hits 0, top up again, and it starts all over again. What is causing this issue please?

Likely the expansion vessel has lost it's pre-charge which will need to be re-charged, or possibly replaced if the diaphragm has failed. Could be a faulty PRV but this is usually caused by prolonged discharge due to another problem such as latterly suggested. Hope this helps.

You will need a gas safe engineer to get this fixed for you, unfortunately it is not something you can do yourself.
