Damp metre reading

Anything above 20% moisture on a meter reading is usually when there should be a concern. It's normal especially in wet weather to have the meter reading spike to about 15% in areas, and this is absolutely acceptable. Most basement properties would tend to have higher levels of moisture, however with the correct damp proofing on place, the condition within the home is perfect.

Hi Michelle 1.6 on a Moisture Metre is very low, but in all honesty it does solely depend on the equipment you are using and the structure of the wall. Do you have any decorative spoiling or visible signs of damp in the area you tested? If you have any further concerns or the issue gets worse i would recommend contacting an independent damp specialist that can carry out a survey and advise on what remedial work that may or may not be required to cure the problem.
