How much ballast and concrete would I need?
Anonymous user 01/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
Hello, I am laying a (fairly large) shed with a timber framed base onto 20 perfectly positioned concrete columns. The columns will be roughly 200mm wide and roughly 600mm deep. Could someone advise how much ballast and concrete I would need for this please? Many thanks

Hi Paul,
The general consensus is that it is approximately 1.8 tonnes of ballast per m3. In your case you have 0.2x0.2x0.6 m3 times 20? Therefore, 0.5m3 so you're looking at 900kg ballast for which 6x25kg bags of cement should suffice.
Hope this helps
