How to get freeview with only twin coax cable coming out of wall
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.40 PM
Hello, I’m trying to hook my TV up but my new flat only has a twin coax cable coming out of the wall. They look like this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91hMnCS4JgL._AC_SL1500_.jpg What do I need to connect them to my TV, and more to the point, will that even work? Thanks

Hi, that is a sky cable you have coming through the wall, It wouldn't work for free view as it's connected to the dish.
You would need an aerial and new cable running into the room...more this helps

As said, it looks like your aerial cable is connected to a satellite dish not a terrestrial aerial. There is a version of freeview which come on satellite called 'Freesat' but you need a TV or underset box which can receive these signals.

As long as the cable is connected to the dish, if you have an old Sky box then this should work like a free view box and pick up free channels. People that cancel Sky often wonder why they still get some channels and it’s because the subscription is for the Sky channels only. If you don’t have a Sky box, eBay? Alternatively get an aerial set up, better long term most likely.
