brick up or plasterboard a removed chimney breast.

Hi i have had my chimney breast removed i want to know do i brick up the wall to where the existing bricks are then cement and plaster? or do i put a plasterboard over it and skim the wall? please advice correct way to do this. thanks

The best way would be what you said first, brick the hole back up then plaster over.

It is best to brick/block it up and render it, you can always dab plasterboard over & skim it for a good finish...
But I have plastered them where they have just had a stud wall instead of the brickwork...

You can do both it just depends on your timescale. Sand and cement would take longer to dry and the added problem the soot might bleed through. Or the other option is to dot dab and skim.
