Do I switch off main fuse box of fused spur?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.40 PM

I have a switched fused spur in conservatory, the fuse has gone and it needs changing. In order to change the fuse, do I need to switched off everything in house at the main fuse box, or is it enough to simply switch off the fused spur in conservatory? I have an old fuse box under stairs and it is only on/off switch, not one of these fancy modern ones. It works. Also if I need to switch off at fuse box under stairs, what will happen to boiler? Will I need to call out gas engineers to sort boiler or will it just reset itself?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Just switch the fused spur off. To remove the fuse gently prise the fuse holder out of the faceplate. The old fuse can then be pushed out. Drop a new fuse in and push the fuse holder home.

Hi No need to turn off main switch while changing fuse of spur. Boiler will be reset by reset button when switch on.

You can just switch off the fused spur to change the fuse, but I would seriously think about upgrading your fuseboard. Get a qualified electrician to check out your electrics
