Change way French Doors Open

Currently our French doors need me to open the right hand door first before I can open the left one due to a central strip/pillar (apologies - not sure of the technical name) that runs the full length of the left hand door. Is there a way to switch this over so I can independently open the left door?

No easy or quick fix with this I'm afraid, as the slave and master doors are decided before being manufactured and isn't decided by the fitter during installation.
I'm sure it could be done providing the latch is reversible, but would require new holes to be drilled and old holes left redundant. Which is not ideal.
