Elevation drawings for a planning application and demolition of current property

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

How many hours would you expect an architect to charge for the following; 1. Front and back elevations for a 4 bedroom detached house 2. All 4 elevations 3. Elevation of decking at the bottom of the garden 15m by 2m? Thank you

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Probably about 12 hours of drawing work. However - it depends on how much information the architect has in order to produce the elevations. If a site survey is needed (it should be recommended) - then you have to add the time for that. Also most architects would want to produce their own plans to work from - as they have to take responsibility for the accuracy of the drawings - so you would add - say four hours onto the drawing time. This is very approximate though - as architects include varying levels of detail - but perhaps it will give you a guide.

Dear Sarah, I would say instead of changing the mentioned points we should do the whole design from begining it would be quicker. I bleieve you have all the measurments and if so then it would take only 10 hours maximum but I would take 1/2 days because I do not want to give an exact time for this. Hopefully it would help you. Morning Sarah, As with the previous responses, any architect should allow for producing accurate existing information, which may include a site survey as well as producing the proposed plans and elevations. From your question it sounds like you are designing a new house? If this is the case I would always stress the importance of exploring as many options at an early stage as possible to ensure you get the right design for you. In this case the timeframe maybe a little longer than suggested by other responses. As part of our service we always produce a concept document which explores atleast 3 different option before we prepare drawings suitable for a planning applciation. I hope this helps.
