Widening gravel driveway
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM
Hi, I want to extend my existing gravel driveway to the side by removing part of the front lawn. It's only a small area so I will just be using a spade to manually dig up the turf and prepare the ground. From what I've read I need to dig down to around 15cm to lay a decent sub-base but I'm concerned about the possibility of damaging buried service pipes. There is a water meter on the pavement just in front of the area of lawn I am removing. Do I need to worry as I am only going down 15cm?

water supply pipe, it should be laid at a minimum of 750mm and a maximum of 1350mm below finished ground level but always dig with with caution
