Single storey extension is cold

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

So we had an extension at the back of our house 12m x 3m and we knocked our kitchen wall down which is a 4m opening. We also have a 8m sliding door and 2 velux roof windows. We have 100mm cavity insulation, 100mm celotex in the floor and 100mm in between roof rafters and then 50mm over the top too. We did cut 16 x 4” holes for down lights into the celotex could this be the reason why it’s so cold? The lights aren’t in yet so is there something we can do to help before they are put in?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The holes for the down lighters are too big , also is there a 25mm celotex upstand around the perimeter of the floor ?

Let me think in regards to the lights. Warm room effect shouldn’t be a issue. But all factors need exploring. Paul

Nothing wrong with above, it’s just heating position , for that big room with 20m2 of doors and velux windows you may be better with a underfloor heating system, or position of radiators is wrong!
