Toilet seat removal

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

I've a broken soft close toilet seat that I want to replace. I think its top fitted because the toilet pan is close coupled and there are no screws or fixings to be seen. The seat was fitted in 2017 and I can see that these seats have moved on a bit since then. Its not like the Cassellie soft close rapid fit type. There is a plastic fitting at the back of the seat flush to the toilet but other than forcing it I cant see how to remove it. If it helps - if i push the plastic mounting there seems to be a rachet that lets it move but I still cant get it off - help please

I expect it has round metallic covers on the fixing plates. You need to ease these off to get at the screws underneath. They can be rather stubborn & need to be eased up evenly or will simply jam. The seat would need removing from the fixing first & there is usually a button on the back, underneath or a pair on the ends to release it. If it's not like that then it may be secured with grub screws for which you'll need an Allen key. Hope that helps.
