Herringbone without left and right side planks?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM
I have received my Herringbone T&G floor. All planks are identical and have 3 grooves and one tongue on one of the long side. There are no left and right side planks. This means that one of the short edge never fits in a tongue. I have been told that the floor glue would keep everything down and there was no issue. Is this correct that sometimes there is no left and right planks? Alternatively, should I use some false tongue and glue them in place with D3 PVA adhesive? Thank you very much for the support.

I have only ever worked with left and rights as they lock together perfectly along the the length and width and i have laid thousands of meters of the stuff .

Engineered parquet often comes with only one length having a tongue. When it is fitted you have to have the boards a certain way and then they all hold in together.
If laid correctly there won't be any need to add false tongues.

Maybe there’s some new technology on the market that I don’t know of.

You will be absolutely fine laying the floor in the herringbone pattern with the adhesive in the sub floor - you definitely don’t need to use PVA too!
