Skirting - can I get help with the name so I can search online
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM
I’m looking for a particular skirting to patch an area where a fireplace used to be and I’m not sure what to search for. It’s like torus skirting without the thin edge at the top of the makes sense. Any ideas?

Hi,
If you are unsure as to the profile, it may be a modified mould or a run particularly machined for the property, this can often be the case for period properties.
As far as matching, if it’s only a small quantity, you will need a joiner or cabinetshop to make it up from either scratch or a similar profile.
Have a look at the website dresser mouldings. They have a large range that will help identify it, then you can look at the options to replace it.
Hope that helps.

It’s really difficult to identify without an image and I wouldn’t want to give you the wrong info. My best recommendation would be to go to one of the online retailers websites, just search ‘buy skirting’ and use one of the first links. The website will have images of a wide range of profiles for you to see. It might be long winded but could be a more cost effective solution than going bespoke.
