Combo boiler rapidly losing pressure just after service

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.41 PM

We just had the annual service done on our boiler. Almost straightaway I noticed the heating wasn’t as strong but put this down to the better weather. Then the radiators and pipes started making loud bubbling noises and gradually certain radiators stopped working at all. I bled the radiators and topped up the system as pressure had dropped to zero. Despite topping up the water a few more times, the pressure just drops back to zero within minutes. This morning the boiler started making a horrible noise so turned everything off. Could the service engineer have messed something up or is it likely that this is a random fault? Seems to be too much of a coincidence. And there is no signs of a leak - I think this should be obvious given the amount of water we’re losing. Where does it all go? Please help as engineer won’t return until next week.

Hi I guess you have not got internal leaks on the boiler or heating system so check the pipe which exists to the outside a 15mm copper pipe to see if there are signs of water leaking from it if yes then you will need a new pressure relief valve? If the engineer activated this valve it could have weakened the valve but he is not to blame If the pipe is not showing signs of dripping water then the expansion vessel will need the internal pressure checking or will need replacing I feel it is very unlikely the engineer is to blame unless he was a complete novice and released the pressure from the expansion vessel I hope this helps Dave

The vessel in the boiler may be nackerd. Or is it discharge it self. There is a discharge valve in the boiler. The pipe goes out side . Check the pipe to see if the is any water patches outside
