Kitchen Fitting

Can Integrated dishwasher be installed along with hardwiring to switch

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.21 PM

My property is a new build with a kitchen that does not have an existing integrated dishwasher. I've measured one of the base units (next to sink) and it should fit a standard size integrated dishwasher. My questions are: (apologies if silly questions) 1. Would the installer take out the base kitchen unit themselves as part of installation or would I have to do that myself? 2. There is a wall switch specifically for the dishwasher, would the installer be able to hardwire to it given that it was never used before? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Normally the fitter will remove the old kitchen prior to installing the new one. The dishwasher can be hardwired and isolated with a switch fused spur however if it is a new dishwasher cutting the plug off to hardwire will invalidate the garantee. You can possible spur from the switch and put a surface patress in a unit and plug you dishwasher into that rather than hardwire .

Installer can remove and fit new one also there should be a plug behind for the dishwasher if you have a switch stating dishwasher on, then simply plug the washer in and then controlled by the switch on the wall if not then will have to wire one in
