The plaster boards have been dot and dabbed onto the steel plate

The plaster boarding and plaster skim around my sliding doors looks damp. The plasterer explained he would double board, using pink fire board directly dot and dabbed onto the steel RSJ plate above the door frame and then dot and dab another dry wall board onto this, explaining this would stop any damp issues. Is this true? Or what is the best practice when plaster boarding around new doors? Thank you for any answers

Your better off cutting some timbers knocking them into the rsj tightly. Double check there level and then board on top of the framework built with the timbers.

It sounds like you have a cold spot on your RSJ this makes it wet with the cold air meeting the warm air check if it is properly sealed outside the plasterboard will no stop damp only absorb it

A few things. Plasterboard will not fix any damp issues. Pink board adheres to fire regulations not moisture resistance. And dot n dab onto an rsj usually doesn't stick and falls in time.
To be fair, you need to sort the damp before you need a plasterer.
