Will a recently laid block paved drive take the weight of a skip and bulk bags?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.21 PM

I'm having a block paved drive installed shortly. It will be a crushed concrete sub base with sand. A couple of months after I am having a patio laid (approximately 40m2). I'll need a 6 yard skip for the old concrete patio and around 5-6 bulk bags of MOT, plus the pavers. The drive is around 30m2. Is it likely to say under the weight of a skip of rubble and the bulk bags given that it will be newly laid? I know, do it the other way round, but the drive is going in in a couple of weeks and we have just recieved some money that has enabled us to put a new patio in, so this is the way it has worked out.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hello, As long as the driveway is constructed correctly, the weight will not really be an issue but the biggest concern would be damage to the cosmetic look of the driveway. Most skips have a few dinks here and there that could scratch the block paving do I would advise sheeting and scaffold boards and you will not have any problems.

As long as the driveway is laid correctly, using the correct materials yes it should hold the weight. If it sinks, they it hasn’t been done correctly.

I agree with the above answer, if the driveway is constructed properly it will take the weight however I would cover the whole drive to protect the cosmetic look
