How do I make more space in my loft bedroom
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.55 PM
Wecurrently have our bedroom in the loft space. We are now pregnant and need more space in there (by January). Is there any way that we can add extra space with maybe a Dorma window or maybe changing the roof slightly??

Is your present loft classed as a bedroom? If not You can build a dormer extension ,this is the best way of making your loft big and usable. It will give you full height floor space to the rear wall of your property.Depending on local council you can build a dormer loft conversion without planning permission to the size of forty cubic meters on a terraced house and fifty on a semi.Your local council will have details on planing portal .Cost depends on type of house but fifteen thousand is minimum you could expect to spend. If you do extend your loft get a architect to draw you plans and obviously go through building notice and control. You can then get it passed of as a bedroom not a storage space. If your existing is classed as a bedroom it could be easier for you.
