Bathroom Fitting

Can I have my new ish bathroom re fit?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

A bathroom fitter did a terrible job in 2019, hot and cold tap wrong way round, paid the plaster to do the walls upto halfway so there is a line all the way across, didn't get beading long enough so just put an inch or 2 of silicone in the bottom so it reached the floor, a piece of plastic sticks out of the bath and he just put solicon on top, didn't seal the sink all the way around. What I want to know is, can a fitter just re fit some of the things he messed up? I think we'll probably get the walls replastered as well, we can't afford another new bathroom and there isn't anything wrong with the suite itself just badly fitted.

The silicone removal sounds like the biggest headache of this job but is still totally do-able. You may need to retile if the removal damages some unless you have a few left over from the previous fit. Different batchs of tiles sometimes look different or if able to source at all. Hope this helps Craig

Hi. In your case and from what you wrote, without seeing the work, I think that with little money it should solve the problem. I think you can also fix the problem of hot and cold water, just remove some tiles if it is in the shower or if it is in the sink just invert the two pipes under it. The silicone should be removed all the way and put the new silicone back on to get a good result and a good seal.

Hi yes , the silicone can be raked out and redone. The tile trim missing maybe able to get a piece to match. But may need to take a couple of tiles off to put a bigger piece in than a coille fo inches. The plastering could be skimmed to get rid off the line. The sink can be redone You dont need to replace anybody the suite I dont know without seeing the plastic on the bath. But shouldnt be a big problem Hope this helps Best regards Chris.
