pressure loss on boiler every time toilet is flushed. Brand new Boiler

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.37 PM

Gas safe Engineer installed new gas boiler and heating. Then another plumber installed the downstairs loo. Now when I flush the toilet the boiler loses pressure to zero and has to be filled every day. Even if I do not flush toilet pressure drops and I refill every day. There NO leaks anywhere. The plumber did connect to two pipes near boiler. Whats wrong and what can be done? Is it some form one way valve he should have fitted? Thank you all for taking time out to reply - some of you asked if it is hot water when flushed = NO. It is Def connected to cold pipe supplying cold water to boiler, this is T also to toilet cistern & cold tap Hot water from boiler , T to supply tap on vanity sink Is there some easy fix eg one way valve ? I cannot call plumber who did the job as he is now in Poland (from Rated people). Alternatively , ripped out wall tiles & plaster board in wall and ceiling and take a connection from bathroom pipes above.

Bizarre ! For some reason the supply pipe to the toilet has been connected to the heating system. Someone has done something very wrong which should be looked into immediately. There is probably (should be) a service valve on the WC supply pipe. Close it, 1/4 turn & use a bucket to flush the loo. Get someone in to check out who's done what. This is all wrong, the 2 should be completely separate.

How strange, I do not know the answer, I would call the boiler engineer and let him know the problem, you may need to send him a picture of the 2 pipes the plumber connected together, He should be able to advice you best and get the problem solved Good luck

Which boiler has been installed. Ie combination or system . Is the water in the toilet cistern hot when heating is on ? Seems highly unlikely but with some of the workmanship out there it could of been connected to the heating system . Would get the second plumber back to rectify the issue

Water pipe feeding the toilet cistern is connected to central heating system, when running radiators flush toilet and check if flushing water is warm. Checking filling loop will not give results as there is double check valve fitted.

test your water inn the cistern with a litmus paper, this will tell you if the water is contaminated with inhibitor if any left, also run system and flush toilet if hot id suggest you call him back. drop the pressure one boiler and see if the toilet fill like mains pressure?
