Installing a handheld bidet spray in a tenement bathroom

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.59 PM

Hi I am trying to find out if it is at all possible to install a handheld bidet spray with warm water in a traditional tenement flat bathroom set up - sink as you come in on one side, bath right next to that along the wall then beyond that toilet at the end in a recess in front of the exterior wall. Is a bidet spray possible to fit without major work to confirm to whatever it needs to re contamination of water supply and is there any way to have the water so it isn't like ice - saw a post about an inline heater but not sure what this is (expense and expense and feasibility of set up in such a bathroom) Thanks for any advice. Emma

Hi Emma, thanks for your question. Firstly yes it is possible to fit what you have asked in your bathroom set up. An additional hot feed would need to be run from bath to the toilet area where a blending valve (TMV Thermostat Mixer Valve) would be fitted with a cold feed ( picked up from toilet) to produce the warm desired effect. Pipework would need to be boxed in, under floor boards or can be run in chrome pipework if surface to go along with chrome fittings on the Bidet Shower Head and valve perhaps? Price is tricky not seeing what's involved so would like to see what options there are first in running pipework , and check the isolations of the cold and hot to make sure there are no hidden problems. (This set up is for a stand alone system not fitted to Pan, as in question). Steve

You can’t have a bidet with spray from inside the bowl, they normally come with a monobloc tap and a adjustable nozzle to direct spray, the tap is a hot and cold mixer to get water temperature right

As per other answer but a double check valve is a must ! Can’t high light that enough. To prevent back flow possibility and contamination of potable water!!
