What tradesmen do I need and what is the order of work?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.59 PM

I live in a small 2 bedroom Victorian terrace. 5 years ago I had the ground floor bathroom moved upstairs to the (then) third bedroom, and the space converted to a garden room. Now some of the porcelain floor tiles in the garden room, laid on solid concrete, are rocking and rising up. There is also damp on the walls, which were covered with 'dot-and-dab' plasterboard, covered in plaster. The paint is also flaking off in places. The outside side return is laid with concrete and very wet when it rains, possibly too close to the DPC. I want to put it all right but don't know which problem to tackle first. Do I need different tradesmen to do the different jobs?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Carole Sound like you may have a leak or damp issue. You'll need to find the route of the problem first get this fixed and then you can start work. The floor tiles should have been layed with flexi adhesive this may of helped. A general builder should be able to fix this for you. Hope this helps Regards Dave Contract Carpentry &Building

Hi, As above find the source of the problem. This would be easily carried out by a general builder. With regards to the floor tiles this is possible due to movement within the concrete therefor should be laid on detramatt. hope you get this sorted. regards Lee LW Construction.
