Electric meter for a converted house to 2 flats

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.53 PM

I am going to convert a house to two flats to sell one of them. So I need to have two seperate meters. the main electric supply comes to the house then there are two fuses on the old cut-out and the main is 2 phases. I have got the second fuse box upstairs ready to install the meter but now my supplier says the electric supply for upstairs is illegal. When I asked them what I need to do, they advice me to ask UKNP. UKNP has been said I need to change my main to 3 phases. Now I would like to know what I need to do in this case, anybody knows? Please help me. Thanks in advance

I think you request the quote from UKPN, if you have not had one already that is, pay them them and then they will upgrade the cable. There are no other legal options. Its worth remembering that if the work is not carried out correctly and the house burns down in the future, you will be liable.
