This is a job that should only be undertaken by a qualified Part P registered electrician, they will know what size tails and earth to fit.

For consumer units with BSEN60947-3 100amp main switch the tails need to be 25mm double insulated brown and blue, with a 16mm green/yellow earth. If its an older BS5419 (normally 60/63amp) main switch then 16mm double insulated tails can be used. Remember that you will ned to contact your electricity supplier to de-energise the service before you can work on the tails and they will need to reseal the meter and cut-out on completion of the job.
