What size tails and earth do I need for a new consumer unit in a house?

16mm tails if main switch is under 80amp -25mm if main sitch is 100amp, 16mm main earth and 10mm to gas and water for all aplications, regards Terry.

This is a job that should only be undertaken by a qualified Part P registered electrician, they will know what size tails and earth to fit.

For consumer units with BSEN60947-3 100amp main switch the tails need to be 25mm double insulated brown and blue, with a 16mm green/yellow earth.
If its an older BS5419 (normally 60/63amp) main switch then 16mm double insulated tails can be used.
Remember that you will ned to contact your electricity supplier to de-energise the service before you can work on the tails and they will need to reseal the meter and cut-out on completion of the job.

hi you will require 25mm double insulated brown (live) Blue (nuetral) and 16mm green&yellow(earth)
Note: All electrical work should be done by qualified electrician
