Planning permission to level garden & increase fence height

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.39 PM

Once our garden is levelled, (coming up 200-250mm next to the fence to fill an old flower bed), then the fence in our side will go to being just a 5ft panel, are we OK to add 200mm height of panelling onto top of it? As we are built on a slope (c1975), It will be under 2m on our side, but next door are lower so they have 450mm of gravel board and then fence and top panel above, so in all about 2.15m for them. As it is my fence, does the 2m apply to my side or there side?

As long as the overall fence height is below 2m you are fine

Hi, to be safe and not cause any issues with your neighbour, best you check with your local planning office. Normally allowed fence height is 1950 cm.

On the edge of caution I would always check with planning and make sure your neighbours are happy with what you are going to do.
