Replacing an old intercom handset with a newer model

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

I live in an old building with a Comelit intercom system shared by three flats. My flat has this old handset but the video call and door release do not work. Can I replace this entry phone with a new model and make these features work? If so which models are compatible? The exact model of the entry handset i'd like to replace is a Comelit 4504.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can get direct replacement model from comelit and this should then work correctly

Before spending money on a new handset it would be worth getting a professional to diagnose the fault first, as said above, you could replace the handset and still be left with the fault, get an engineer to diagnose and then your certain, it could be an easy fix.

As answered before it should work by replacing handset with new but could also be a cable issue or something issue with something else with the main control unit at the door where all the handset go to but can’t guarantee anything without inspecting it myself

You can get a replacement video handset but the wiring will also need to be checked to make sure it is the handset and not the wiring.
