underfloor heating with parquet floor is it advisable?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.55 PM

Please can you tell me can i put parquet flooring over wet underfloor heating? This is going in to a new build house. Also can you put rugs over the top of the parquet flooring we have had many conflicting theories regarding this.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can put parquet floor only if it is engineered wood. You can also go with other hard wood types like oak or maple but it has to be properly seasoned. And properly means properly. Personally I wouldn't trust to any supplier. Rug on parquet floor? If you mean with underfloor heating then it doesn't make sense, really. Yes you can put it for aesthetic reasons but have to bear in mind that it holds the heat down to sub-base and prevent proper heat circulation.

No solid wood should be fitted over underfloor heating . Some engineered wood flooring can but you would need to find out from the makers first. Also it is ok to put a rug over you wood floor but sun lite will bleach the floor and over time when you lift the rug you will see where it has been. Max
