Kitchen sink overflowed and now dishwasher making ongoing noise when not in use

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.40 PM

I accidently left my hot water tap on in the kitchen sink. The sink overflowed and once I realised and dealt with the overflow my dishwasher made (and continues to make) a persistent noise. I did run the dishwasher with a quick cycle and when I did the noise stopped but restarted again as soon as the programme had finished. The dishwasher is right next to the sink and I am reluctant to use it or the washing machine whilst the noise persists.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Sounds like you have a blockage in the waste pipe under the sink. If you feel capable remove the waste trap and clean out any blockages, otherwise call a decent plumber, it will not take them long to do this for you.
