Best way to remove old bathroom wall tiles
Anonymous user 08/12/2025 - 8.04 AM
We’re renovating our small WC and there are these old 70s/80s style cream wall tiles. Reckon they’ve been on the walls for 15-20years at least. What is the best way to remove them with minimal damage to the wall underneath? I’ve got myself a grout remover where I thought I’d remove the grout first then try and pry them up but is that the quickest and most effective way?

Knock the tiles off with a kango or old fashioned hammer and bolster.

Hi
Best way is go to tool station and buy a tool remover chisel bit for a DSDS drill if you haven’t got one then use a big 4 inch chisel with a club hammer and go easy or if not with a chisel and club hammer 🔨
The easiest way though is with a DSDS chisel for removal of tiles
Many thanks James

Electric breaker or you can use a wall paper steamer on the wall it will soften the adhesive and make them easier to remove.
