Replacing an smaller induction hob with the bigger Gas Hob on Granite worktop

hi normally it's similar cut out size but can be altered no problem just need to look out for wall units above if changing to bigger hob gas no problem depends were it is

Hi You may be very lucky and buy new hob with same cut out size most are 490mm x 560 however bigger hobs do have larger cut outs If you needs to cut the granite stick tape over where you needs to cut mark out the size and gently cut using an angle grinder Will be dusty but you should be ok taking your time Open windows and have someone hold a vacuum on sucking up the dust while cutting

Hi when replacing a hob with large one you must be aware of what’s above , wall units ect .1/ There must be clear space minimum 760 mm for gas hob . 2/ Cutting out the granite not to much of problem bit dusty .3/ Depending on thickness of granite you may have to cut out some of the base unit if that possible 4/ find the nearest gas point to extend with the correct bore size. Weather it’s internal or external . 5/ some of the big hobs need a larger supply . Hope these points help.

Without knowing which gas hob you would like to install I would say the opening may very well need enlarging, you will need to employ the services of a granite specialist but in can be done insitu, again the gas pipe installation will need a gas safe engineer who will work to the current regulations and depending on where the supply runs to now will depend on whether it can be fitted without removing the base units. I would recommend you consult an engineer before making any decisions, he/she will also be able to advise as to whether any wall units will need moving if there are any in close proximity to the hob.
