Concrete block or brick for exterior tiles?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

Tiling exterior tiles onto brick wall, what’s the advice on how to attach them? Wall is only going to be 40cm high but 13m long. Also building the wall if it’s being tiled brick or can I use concrete blocks considering it will be covered? How well do tiles adhere to concrete? Thanks in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I'd go with dense smooth faced blocks. Use waterproof adhesive/grout for the tiles and then seal them when you are done to prevent any water getting behind the tiles so that frost/ice can't push the tiles off.

It's perfectly acceptable to put tile directly on concrete. I would recommend using concrete dense blocks and rapid set flexible tile adhesive, that will prevent any moisture.
