TV wall mount holes reuse

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

Hi. I'm moving into a new flat where the previous owner had their TV mounted on the wall. There are some drilling holes/screws remaining on the plasterboard wall. If I tried to mount my TV at the same position, is that possible to reuse them? My concern is, if I have the holes filled and wall repainted, then my tv mounted in the similar position, the new screws are near the re-filled holes and it might not be safe enough.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would recommend drilling new holes to hold the tv up due to the walls not being solid

Hi, Check were your holes are for you VESA mount to see if they would happen to hit the same holes. Depending on the size of your tv the mount would have multiple fixing holes for it to be attached to the wall. There are a lot of mouts that allow you to attach the wall bracket and the VESA off centre and realign by sliding on the bracket. If it had to go quite close to the previous holes, I would fill with a wall plug or even try Rawlplugs wet n fix.
