Best way to hang a 5.2” x 84” bamboo pole to a sitting room wall

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.20 PM

Hi, I am looking to hang a 5.2” x 84” bamboo pole to my sitting room wall (brick) and was wondering what the best of way of hanging it up would be ? I’m open to suggestions but me and the Mrs would prefer it to go straight into the wall if possible without using brackets. We are using the pole to hang a very light tapestry painting. Thanks for your help!

Good morning my name is Rob . I have worked with bamboo a few times and have found it is best to drill it in the darker rings on the pole to avoid splitting . If your using a pole around 80 mm diameter drill the back side of the pole so you can hang the pole to the wall using 6 inch screws 3 inch in the wall and 3 inch out of the wall then place the pole onto the screws . I hope this helps . Kind regards Rob R J H Furniture

Hi my name is mark And rob is right bamboo is hollow unlike cane that has a porous core so drill near or on the rings , with a sleeve to the back part to bring the pole forward from the wall to raise the tapestry, you could also use ornamental hemp rope half hitch at each end and hang this from ornamental hooks or rings secured in the brick , their should also be a wall plate above your ceiling that is timber joist you can fix there Also please check before you fix hope it looks cool Mark 👍
