Extension on top of link detached garage

Good morning, I am just after a little bit of advice. We are potentially looking at purchasing a semi detached house. The garage is attached to the house, but is also attached to next doors garage. Would we be able to build on top of our garage to make a 4th bedroom even though our garage is attached to the neighbours garage? The house itself offers no more space than we have at the moment, but has the potential to, but I do not want to go ahead and show major interest until I know whether this is doable or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Ellie

if your neighbour did the same as you you would turn 4 houses into a row of terrace houses

Firstly planning permission will be needed but the job can be done using steel posts anchored to new concrete pads that are deeper than the garage floor then steel beams (designed by structural engineers) that are wide enough to form a cavity wall above will be bolted to the steel posts. The space in the garage will be comprised by the posts.
