Changing plug sockets and putting up wallpaper - which should I do first?

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

I'm planning on redecorating a bedroom and I want to change the switches and plug sockets from white to brass and hang some textured wallpaper. Does it matter which one I do first? If I change the sockets after the wallpaper is put up will it damage the wallpaper? Thanks in advance!

If the new face plates fit the existing wall boxes it would make sense to remove switches and plug outlets and terminate them while you do the wallpaper. Then you can fit the new brass plates afterwards - you shouldn't need to damage the paper at all if the fittings are the same.

hello. normally when you put the wallpaper on, you have to unscrew all the plugs from the wall. then in that case it would be the same, you put the wallpaper first, and then you can change the fixtures, because you just need to make a small cut in the wallpaper for the wires, the plug will be over the wallpaper. Thanks

Good evening, I would unplug normally even after finishing the wallpaper. And you can put the finishing touches. the new ones being correct! Respectfully

CONDE BROTHERS, your again wrong, when discussing jobs with the public you should explain yourself correctly, any decorator not painter can change a socket when hanging wallpaper. Though a qualified electrician would no this.
