FD30 and FD30S doors

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

Selective licensing in my area requires landlords to fit FD30S doors. I've googled the difference between FD30 and FD30S, so I am aware that it has a smoke seal. I've not been able to find many places that sell FD30S doors. I wanted to ask if tradesmen buy FD30 doors and fit the smoke seals themselves to make them FD30S doors or do you buy them as FD30S? Any idea ofwhere you would recommend to buy from would also be appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, The fire door rating is for the door itself. The fitting of intumescent strips to the edge give you the option for Intumescent only and intumescent with a smoke seal. Unless the doors a pre hung with a frame, the seals are fitted once hung, to allow for adjustment. The gaps should be no greater than 3-4mm. The fire rating applies to the ironmongery to be used as well, so be wary of this. Search for intumescent with smoke seal and you will find various stockists.
