Stripping an entire wall of paint

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

Hi, i have bad damp coming through the walls all over the place which is cracking / bubbling the paint. Plasterboard behind it. Should i buy loads of paint stripping solution and take the paint off that way or buy a sander and sand the lot of it before i treat it with pvc ? Thanks for your time

First of all you need to sort out what has cased this damp issue and rectify. once that is sorted out it will depend on the condition of the wall/plasterboard as to the next step. If in good sound condition, I would not use any type of paint stripper to remove paint, just scrape back anything loose, fill and paint. I hope this is helpful. Coz CZ Construction Surrey Limited

I would find out if it’s a leak and get it sorted. Let the wall dry out.scrape old blown paint.dig out old cracks fill all you can let it dry sand it back. If it still looks shabby I would paper line the wall or walls leaving them to dry 24 hours and then paint on top.

First thing to do is fix the damp problem then remove the plasterboard let the wall dry Then replace with a new sheet of plasterboard and paint with your new colour. If the area is bigger than a sheet don’t worry you can use easyfill filler to bring both edges together, remember to keep the boards level together use a thick straight piece of wood I hope this helps
