Plumbing

Unable to prime a Salamader boost pump.

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.19 PM

Just moved house - the new digs come complete with a boost pump on the bath's hot water supply. It works 100% for the first few days coming on every time the hot tap is turned and giving us a good flow-rate from the tank ~1.5m away. The mains water was interrupted yesterday and since then the pump won't start - assuming an air lock i disassembled the inlet pipe, cleaned the filter for good measure and bled the supply pipe out into a bucket until i was sure it was clear. When i tried to do this from the hot tap - i get zero flow. I'm certain i have power to the pump, and water flow into the pump, but i get nothing out from the other side of it, pump on or off. Pump in question is a Salamnder CT55+XTRA. Is there a trick to priming these pumps that i'm missing?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

To answer the problem with the pump make sure there is power to the pump and the hot water supply to the pump is turned on then turn the power off to pump. If there isn’t a bleed nipple to release air from pump, I would recommend that you gently undo the nut on the flexi hose to pump and release the air once the air has been released tighten the nut and run pump this should solve the problem?

Maybe the water supply interruption threw a load of muck into the impeller pump and made it stick. Could clean out to see if it hasn't buggerd the impeller completely

Well I think you have draw air into cylinder, turn off mains water stop cock on water tank.drain hot water via tap until tank empty.vent shower pump .refill main tank.should do the trick
