Artex ceiling removed but not sure about asbestos?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.19 PM
Hi I just removed my dining room ceiling as we had a wall knock through and the ceiling was out dated with artex pattern so I decided to remove it. Now just reading up on about artex ceiling containing asbestos? I’m worried now it may contain it but I’ve already removed it and disturbed it what should I do?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would say it is now a bit too late, as when finding any suspicious looking material that could be a possible ACM. Always contact a surveying or professional asbestos removal company for them to carry out taking a sample to deem what materials are in the artex for peace of mind.
The best thing for you to now do in my opinion regarding the ceiling you have all ready removed is depending on how the room/ceiling has been left. If there is still debris/ dust in the area where you have removed the possible ACM i would contact an Asbestos removal company to come in and carry out a environmental clean. Ask them to dispose of the waste that was created when pulling down the artex and possibly get an analyst to carry out a reassurance air test.

With the ceiling already being taken down it’s a bit too late to have a impact on the work carried out.
My advice would be to contact and asbestos removal company and have them carry out an air reassurance test to see if area is free of any fibre. An environmental clean can also be carried out to make sure there is no more artex present
