Mist coat before or after damp proof paint?

Hi Is it better to mist coat a newly plastered wall before or after applying damp proof paint? Many thanks Eleanor

your damp sealer should of went on before any plastering was done. but i would apply damp proof before plaster sealer.

Your damp proof paint is going to seal the wall, a mist coat after that is rather pointless. Check the instructions on the damp proof paint - it should give recommendations and you are best to follow those just in case you have problems and need to complain to the manufacturer

Hi. It doesn’t make sense to put damp coat on before mist coat. Mist coat is for plaster to take in. So.... mist coat first then damp proof paint IF REQUIRED !

Hi A mist coat on a newly plastered wall is always a good idea, make sure to use ONLY water based emulsion paints as a mist coat, water the paint down to a 50/50 ratio of water and paint, then apply mist coat. The mist coat provides a layer for your next coat of paint to sit. And prevents peeling on new plaster to ensure you do this before applying your water proof paint. King regards Mo
