Ask a questionBathroom Fitting
Move bathroom or toilet room
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.37 PM
Wanting to know if it’s more cost affective to move the soil pipe about 5 m to the bathroom. As the toilet and bathroom are separate . Or knock the stud wall down and create a new bathroom where the toilet room is . All both up stairs If we get a macerator toilet dose this mean the soil pipe can stay where it is and the toilet can be fitted pretty much where you like so to speak. Thanks for all the help.

depends on a few things, how deep is the waste pipe underground, what material are you digging out etc. to get a good idea you need someone on the ground to take a look see, ive known waste pipes to be over 2 meters deep with no access for machinery. also what configuration would work out best for you? are you using the old suite or buying new etc. i personally would move stud wall and install new suite, but again ive not seen layout at your place. just get some local advice as its usually free.
macerators are not my favourite piece of equipment as they frequently breakdown in one way or another. if you got the fall, which you have, install conventional wc.

It depends on how easy will be to reconnect the soil pipe after these 5m move...
To remove a stud wall and make another one shouldn't be the end of the world.
I'm not a big fan of macerators either.

hard to say for sure without seeing the job, but initial thoughts would be to move stud wall as a macerator would be my last resort.
