Filling in holes from downlights fitted in ceiling

Hi, I have approx 8 downlights in a bedroom ceiling that I need removing and wondering if there is anyway to fill in the holes instead of plastering the hole ceiling. Many thanks.

Pretty good video on this on youknowwhat by ' painting and decorating' ' Downlights Patching Unwanted Redundant Holes' if you're having a go yourself Only prob with patch repairs especially on a ceiling is that you may notice a difference when finished where the repairs are. This is because filler may absorb the paint differently to the origional painted areas. To combat this i finish all repairs prior to final light sanding with toupret fine surface filler. And prime the areas first with diluted paint before full coating the whole area.

It can be done but if the ceiling was originally plastered around the spotlight holes instead of the holes drilled out after then you may find after filling that the ceiling will be uneven in those filled areas. Under the wrong light it will show up.

I would say the only way to not see any signs of the old downlight's would to reskim the ceiling
