Thermostatic Mixer Shower - Bath Taps, existing TMV Hot Water

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.37 PM

Looking to do some household DIY and swap out the existing Bath Taps to a Thermostatic Mixer Shower Bath Tap with a On/Off and Temperature turn knobs on either side. The existing Hot/Cold water pipes are piped from what looks like a Thermostatic Mixer Valve? Does this handle just the Hot water temperature regulation? The new Mixer Shower Bath Tap requires a 60c Hot intake. Do I need to change the existing TMV to 60c by turning it anti-clockwise? Does anything else need to change in regards to pipework or would it be just as simple as remove the old bath taps and install the new mixer tap in it's place? Many thanks!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Are you talking about a TMV blending valve below the bath? If you are going to fit a thermoststic bath shower mixer tap I would recommend you remove the TMV. the tsp is basically doing the same job and TMV are normally only installed in care homes or vulnerable resident to avoid scalding. The new bath taps can be adjusted to meet you required temperature and have a temp lock feature also I hope this helps Steve
