Paint repair - fill and then primer or mist coat?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.37 PM

Hi. I painted a wall. In some places, paint peeled off. I removed peeling paint. I will fill these areas with pollyfilla, then sand. Before re-painting these areas, i will need to prime the filled areas. Question is: Can i apply zinsser BIN primer directly on filler, and then paint on top? Will the BIN primer flash through? Or do i need to apply a mist coat on the filler first? Thanks

The Zinsser BIM can sometimes show through, so I would definitely use a mist coat first.

I would always apply a mist coat on the filla before the Zinsser application.

Always apply a mist coat to the filled areas prior to applying the Zinsser. Hope this helps.

Dont use polyfiller or b.i.n Fill with toupret filler. Prime repairs when prep is complete with the emulsuon you are using, thinned down. Go over the repairs well with this thinned coat ( 4 inch emulsion miniroller best) before proceeding when dry to an overall full coat of the wall
