Dowsil 785 new over new for small gap?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.37 PM

Hi, Took all old sealant off around shower tray yesterday, cleaned it properly, meths etc.. and laid a new bead of silicone (dow785) down. This morning I noticed a 1-2 cm area that appears like it has a small gap. Shower has not been used yet. Can I pipe over that gap and smooth (perhaps a wipe of meths first) or do I have to cut out the whole segment and redo? I don’t want any leaks so willing to do the necessary, despite it being a lot of hard work so far! Thank you for all replies. Yes Whiteway, I confirmed with Dow785 that, if fresh, you can lay another bead over top as silicone does stick to silicone. All done now. Looks decent and more importantly, watertight. Thanks again!

I like to do the job properly first time. I would take out the silicone give it a nice clean wipe the area down till nice and dry. Redo silicone with a thicker bed let it set for about 30seconds to 1 minute use soapy water spray the silicone wiper off with a sealant profiler
